8x CR's – accredited clinic – loads of currently unrealized potential!
Previously, dr recruitment & retention has been an issue w/ DPA restricted GPs leaving as soon as they are no longer restricted. This put a financial burden on the clinic w/ having to pay recruiters for GPs who only stay for a short time. Recently a local Mackay GP couple (one with an interest in Occ health) has joined the team with young children & a home locally; w/ every intention to be practicing in Mackay for the next decade or so. In addition, there are 2x non – VR GPs at the clinic. One has just passed the 2nd fellowship exam so has 1 exam to go until Fellowship can be granted. This GP has family based in Mackay & they are buying a family home there. With a stable team of 3 GPs (2+ FTE), this practice can now get down to business.
With 2x great nurses & exceptional reception staff, this mixed billing clinic introduced another level of fee payment from July 1 2021. They are now charging an interim fee of $55 whereby the pt will claim to get their refund. The practice has become more robust as a result of this change and very few patients were lost as a result of this. With pharmacy incentives of $100K pa & path paying $55K pa rent, this MC is essentially rent neutral.
Using MD & Prac soft, all files are soft. The phone system is relatively new & quite high tech. The fit-out initially costs $550K & is only about 5 yrs old. The practice presents well w/ lovely high, vaulted ceilings. The 'icing on the cake' is that there are 5x current DPA exempted Medicare provider no#, w/ 3x currently in use by the present GPs & another 2 available to be transferred to incoming GPs. This makes the location eligible for PEP Drs ….. what's not to like!
This clinic is now a preferred provider of Occupational Health services with Injury Net as it has practitioners accredited and trained to undertake Coal Board Medicals. Site visits will be in alignment with the days that the practice owner is in town; and must take place after hours.
