3x FT GP's are currently providing family medicine at this DPA clinic 40 mins drive of the NSW/Vic border towns. Approximately 250 patients are seen each week in Holbrook and 75 patients seen at Walla Walla across the 3 days it is open. One of the F/T VR GP's will be leaving in Aug 2020 and his patient load will be undertaken by the remaining female GP who will have finished her supervision requirements by that time. The patient load is currently sufficient for 2x F/T VR GPs and ideally, could be managed by a husband and wife GP team or perhaps a brother/sister buying group.

Hume Medical Centre (Holbrook) was started 30 June 2014 with a vision to provide  comprehensive medical services to Holbrook. To do this an old Westpac Bank building was converted into a modern medical centre. Since its commencement Hume Medical Centre has grown its popularity and now is the only medical centre in Holbrook. It has exceeded its original vision to include a second GP and Allied Health Services to the community. They are a fully accredited General Practice, current until Feb 2022. 

Supporting the 3x GPs are a number of ladies, including a P/T practice nurse, a couple of p/t jnr receptionists, a snr receptionist and back end accounts is done remotely from the Melb based head office.

Dorevitch Pathology has a collection centre within the facility.  This is currently operating Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8.30 am – 1.00 pm.

Workcover and Employment medicals

They provide care and ongoing support for persons who are injured or ill due to their workplace and liaise with other stakeholders to ensure a swift recovery and practical return to work for both the employee and employer. the clinic is able to provide Pre-Employment Medicals and recurring employment medicals.  This provides a baseline health assessment for a worker before they enter a role with an employer and assists with risk management to identify if the worker is medically suitable.

Allied Health

Services are provided by visiting health professionals to assist with the care and support of patients. Under the Enhanced Primary Care programme they are able to provide following bulk billed services:

– Podiatrist every 3 weeks

– Diabetic Educator monthly

– Dietitian Monthly

– Australian hearing twice a year

– Psychologist (Marathon Health) fortnightly.

They also refer to a local physiotherapist and two psychologist's.

Immunisations

The GPs are able to give sound advice on travel vaccine needs before traveling overseas. They can then provide a schedule of when and how the vaccines are to be given prior to travel. They also provide childhood immunizations and catch up vaccines for adolescents. Influenza, Pneumococcal and Shingles vaccines also available as needed.

Telehealth

Hume Medical Centre is able to provide access to specialist in Sydney via Skype sessions as required.  This enable the pts to consult with a specialist that would ordinarily not be able to attend appointments due to cost and inability to travel. Currently they are able to offer the following services via telehealth:

 – Psychiatry

– Endocrinology

– Geriatrics

– Rheumatology

The drs are on 60/40% fee split with a 4-year contract each; Dr So is 3 years into her contract as she started Sept 2017 and Dr Su commenced Dec 2019.

• Dr So – general regn, 12 yrs as a Dr, 3 years in Oz, speaks Burmese
• Dr Su – Provisional regn, 1 yr in Oz, 14 yrs as a Dr, speaks Tamil
