Once we had decided to sell our business we contacted a number of brokers, none of whom seemed to be able to categorise accurately our business which sits between retail and wholesale travel. After a frustrating four months, we eventually came across LINK Business Brokers in the form of Blair Luckman. Blair established a fair price for the business and explained clearly how he had arrived at that price. He then went on to set out the costs involved and the sales process. An advertisement was then placed on a number of websites that specialise in business sales. Within six weeks which included the Easter holidays and Anzac weekend there had been many enquiries including one from Switzerland and we had had several face-to-face interviews with prospective buyers, one of whom has now purchased the business. What impressed us most about Blair Luckman were his communication skills; not just in keeping us informed about enquiries by phone and email and what should and what should not be divulged in meetings but in particular during our interviews with prospective buyers. During these interviews Blair ensured that information that would be considered Intellectual Property was not discussed and at the end of the meeting the prospective buyers had a clear understanding of (a) what they would be buying and (b) the steps to be followed should further information about the business be needed for a decision to be made.
